They that wait upon the Lord
Author: Lori GodfreyThey that wait upon the Lord
Waiting upon the Lord enables us to enter into a greater realm of fellowship and trust with our heavenly Father. How do I know? Because we who are called by His name patiently wait for his soon return. One day the trumpet will sound and we who are looking for Him will he appear a second time.
Yet, there is another type of waiting that we experience everyday----waiting on each other. We wait in line at businesses, we wait on our children--- for one reason or another, and sometimes we even wait on the weather to change. Whether we like it or not living in the world requires waiting.
God never said it would be easy; in fact it is one of the most difficult tasks we face, but if we will realize waiting brings positive results into our lives, we would embrace it. Embrace it? You say! Yes, embrace it.
It has taken many years of walking with the Lord and many tribulations to see what the true meaning of "They that wait upon the Lord" really means. You can't fathom the innumerable amount of blessings you'll receive by waiting on your heavenly father and by the way it is not pleading with God nor is it a state of depression---"Waiting is the atmosphere of quiet reserve, arriving only after you have sought God". When you have done all that you can then stand in his presence and wait (there is that word again) for him to have his perfect (not permissible) will in your life.
If you study the life of an eagle you will soon realize what Isaiah was trying to convey. As an eagle soars to the heights of heaven he's keenly aware of his surroundings and yet fly's without any trepidation as he soars with the velocity his Creator supplied, landing unnoticed. We who wait on the Lord can run and not be weary; we can walk and not faint. I know because the many times that I have waited on God he has taught me to be as the eagle while learning to wait on him.
Is waiting a pleasant endeavor? No we would much rather bypass that particular experience then to endure but as I mentioned earlier the blessings that we receive are well worth it. Therefore, let us embrace the opportunity to see God's hand in our life because he knows exactly what he is doing when he requires us to wait.
